  • CSTE/CDC Applied Epidemiology Fellowship Program - (Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE))  - CSTE, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH), has established this Fellowship to train recent graduates in the expanding field of applied epidemiology.
  • Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Laboratory Fellowships - (Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) U.S.)  - The Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Laboratory Fellowship Program, sponsored by APHL and CDC, trains and prepares scientists for careers in public health laboratories and supports public health initiatives related to infectious disease research.   • Asia Pacific Action Alliance on Human Resources for Health (AAAH) - (World Health Organization (WHO))  - The Asia Pacific Action Alliance on Human Resources for Health (AAAH) is a response to international recognition of the need for global and regional action to strengthen country planning and action on health workforce system. As of January 2007 it has 15 members including Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, PNG, Philippines, Samoa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. There are 5 priority actions for the first two years including: HRH advocacy, information monitoring, capacity strengthening, knowledge generation, and technical coordination.
  • European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies - (World Health Organization (WHO))  - The European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies supports and promotes evidence-based health policy-making through comprehensive and rigorous analysis of the dynamics of health care systems in Europe.
  • Global Forum on Human Resources for Health - (Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA))  - The first Global Forum on Human Resources for Health was held in Kampala, Uganda from 2-7 March, 2008. It called for immediate and sustained action to resolve the critical shortage of health workers around the world.
  • Global Health Workforce Alliance - (Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA))  - The Global Health Workforce Alliance is a partnership dedicated to identifying and implementing solutions to the health workforce crisis. It brings together a variety of actors, including national governments, civil society, finance institutions, workers, international agencies, academic institutions and professional associations. The Alliance is hosted and administered by the World Health Organization.
  • Health Worker Migration Policy Initiative - (Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA))  - The Health Worker Migration Policy Initiative is dedicated to monitoring the health worker flows and issue recommendations to WHO for an International Code of Practice.
  • Health Workforce Advocacy Initiative - (Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA))  - The Health Workforce Advocacy Initiative (HWAI) is dedicated to keeping human resources for health at the top of the agenda at the country, regional and international level. Chaired by Eric Friedman (PHR), this initiative's purpose is to make the case for the policies and sustained investments necessary to develop and empower a health workforce capable of delivering on health goals.
  • Latin America and Caribbean Observatory of Human Resources in Health - (World Health Organization (WHO))  - The Latin America and Caribbean Observatory of Human Resources in Health operates in numerous countries of the Region as a strategy to promote the production, analysis, and dissemination of information in Human Resources and decision-making with regard to policies, regulation, and management of the Health Workforce, promoting participation of the educational, health services and corporate stakeholders.
  • Scaling up Education & Training Task Force - (Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA))  - The Scaling up Education & Training Task Force is a technical working group that is looking at finding evidence of previous scale-up initiatives around the world and how best to replicate these examples on a larger scale.
  • Task Force on Financing Human Resources for Health - (Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA))  - A new international task force that will address how to finance the scaling up of the health workforce in the developing world. The group of experts will focus on helping governments identify their funding needs, finding ways to make more money available and on advising countries how best to spend it.

  • Center for Health Policy at Columbia University - (Columbia University School of Nursing USA)  - The Center for Health Policy works with leading researchers at the Columbia University School of Nursing to build a competent workforce for successful public health systems and practice.
  • Dental Student Community Partnership icon- (University of Illinois at Chicago School of Dentistry USA)  - The curriculum at University of Illinois at Chicago prepares an oral healthcare workforce that is competent and committed to conquering the oral diseases of vulnerable populations. The dental students now spend 60 days a year in a public health setting.
  • Environmental Health Traineeship - (Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) U.S.)  - The program provides travel for current laboratory staff to attend relevant conferences or trainings, or short-term (1-6 week) specialized training in environmental health technology and testing methods at another state health department, NCEH/CDC, or other state or federal agencies (such as ATSDR, EPA, NIEHS or NIOSH).
  • Epidemiology Elective Program - (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC))  - The Epidemiology Program Office (EPO) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers an elective in epidemiology for senior medical and veterinary students. The purpose of the elective is to provide an introduction to preventive medicine, public health and the principles of applied epidemiology.
  • HPPI Grants Led by Schools of Public Health - (Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH), Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF))  - In 2000, the third cycle of Health Professions Partnership Initiative funding, public health became an additional focus of the HPPI grants, and five accredited schools of public health were awarded funding specifically to lead Public Health HPPI grants (PH-HPPI) to increase career awareness and integrate public health in the curricula of students (K-12 to post-graduate), and the current health professions workforce.
  • National Mentoring Program in Public Health - (American Public Health Association (APHA))  - The National Mentoring Program in Public Health is a project of the APHA Student Assembly. The program pairs public health students and recent graduates with knowledgeable public health professionals.
  • National PHTC Network Publications - (Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH))  - In coordination with ASPH, the National Public Health Training Centers Network develops publications, with active participation of the Centers, to educate practitioners and policymakers on the innovative and successful foundational workforce training that are conducted across the 14 PHTC.

  • CDC Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute - (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC))  - The Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute (EPHLI) is a 1-year program of seminars and workshops, special projects, and individual study for practicing environmental public health professionals. CDC will pay all allowable and approved costs associated with participation in the institute.
  • Management Academy for Public Health - (University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Public Health)  - The Management Academy for Public Health prepares teams of health professionals for new management challenges in community health. MAPH is a nine-month executive education course customized for health managers in the public health system.
  • National Public Health Leadership Institute - (University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Public Health)  - The new PHLI is a one-year leadership development program for high-potential leaders with a commitment to leading in their own organizations and communities, but also leading system change on the national scene.
  • Preventive Medicine Residency and Fellowship - (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC))  - The CDC Preventive Medicine Residency (PMR) is a 12-month program meeting the Practicum Year training requirements for certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine. The PMR is designed to prepare physicians for future leadership roles in public health at federal, state, and local levels.
